Divi Aruba Review

Heading to Aruba and unsure which Aruba Divi Resort to book? I share my recommendations in this Divi Aruba review

Type of Girl about the Globe – Beach GatG, Island GatG

Aruba is such a gorgeous Caribbean island. It isn’t called ‘One Happy Island’ for nothing! If you’re looking for a resort that offers the freedom of eating where you choose, and the flexibility of creating your own schedule, consider an Aruba Divi Resort.

In this review, I cover the Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort and Divi Golf and Beach Resort. Discover where they are situated, security at the properties, and choice of rooms. Also included is what to do in the area, where to dine, and a review of the Divi Phoenix Spa, as well as my conclusion on both properties.

N.b. If you don’t have time to read the whole article, I personally loved my stay at the Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort and recommend booking a stay at this amazing hotel!

The amazing view from my hotel room

Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort

The Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach in Aruba is perfect for solo females and gives you the space for as much or as little privacy as you need from a resort. Situated in Palm Beach, one of the islands sandy beaches, there are plenty of sunbeds and thatched-roof cabanas to soak up some rays before taking a dip in the clearest of seas.

The white sand is made from coral and never heats up, so there’s no need to wear your flip flops down to the sea. If you prefer to stay closer to the Divi Aruba Beach Resort, there are two freshwater pools in the resort and a whirlpool spa and hot tubs, which, unlike some resorts, are available to use in the evenings.

What I love about the Aruba Divi Phoenix is the absence of loud music playing around the pool that you can find at other resorts when you’re trying to relax during the day. This resort is so peaceful and just perfect for those looking to really rejuvenate and relax. At night, it comes alive with live music from Latin and Caribbean influences, including a steel pan band.

But if it’s activities or a tour that you’re after, you can book snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing and sports activities at the Caribbean shack on the beach. Plus there’s a state-of-the-art fitness center too.

This area is just perfect if you’re a water babe with everything from parasailing, banana boats, jet skis and anything else that you can do on or in the water. This is one of the best Aruba resorts on the island. * Check rates & availability for Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort

The Rooms at Divi Hotel

The rooms range from studio suites to a three-bedroom penthouse suite all with a fully equipped kitchen complete with a microwave and coffeemaker and a flat-screen TV and DVD player for some evening entertainment if you don’t feel like socialising.

I stayed in a beach tower one-bedroom suite and had my own kitchen, lounge, bathroom, double bedroom and an ensuite, not to mention two balconies and the most stunning view of the sea from my bedroom window to wake up to.

The bathroom even came with its own jacuzzi, which changed colours from blue to red to a vibrant white at night and was the perfect way to relax after a day’s sightseeing.

Divi Aruba Restaurants

If you’re wondering if the Divi Phoenix Aruba is all inclusive? The answer is that it isn’t standard, but you can ask a Divi Aruba all inclusive in your room rate. There are a choice of Divi Phoenix restaurants. Purebeach is considered a trendy hotspot on the island and this open-air restaurant is incredibly swanky with white sofas against the coral white sand.

Situated near the beach, I enjoyed a light lunch here with the cool sea breeze as I dined. You can find mini burgers, wraps and fresh fish, such as tuna steaks, on their lunch menu, and it’s open until 11 pm for dinner, too. * Check rates & availability for Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort

Pure Beach restaurant

Pure Ocean

Dining by the sea isn’t just for couples. Another of the Divi Aruba restaurants is Pure Beach where I spent an evening watching the sun setting across the vast ocean and didn’t feel out of place at all. Dining outside on the sand near the sea is simply the perfect setting and as a solo, it allows you to be in the moment and be grateful for where you are.

Every dish here has a bit of a twist, and even the shrimp cocktail wasn’t the usual dish you’d find in a restaurant in the UK. Plus the staff are so friendly and introduce themselves to you with their name.

You can even have breakfast here and watch the joggers and walkers as they come by the restaurant on their morning stroll. Guests can dine in this open-air restaurant under palm trees with fairy lights. Island specialities with an authentic Caribbean flavour. Choose the Lobster Seafood Martini for something a little bit different.

There is also a deli in the Divi Hotel Aruba, which serves coffee and sandwiches, or there is room service if you prefer to stay in your room at night, listening to the sound of the live music below.

Pure Indulgence Spa

The Pure Indulgence Spa Aruba opened in the summer of 2015, and this two-storey spa oozes luxury and tranquillity from the moment I stepped through its door.

Offering massages, a Blow Dry bar for hair washes with professional blow-drying, and manicures and pedicures. The spa has two double suites, two single suites, a sauna and couple’s areas such as a couple’s suite and beach cabana.

I was treated to an exfoliation and hydration body package with essential oil. Before my treatment, I had the luxury of experiencing the massaging jet shower in the women’s locker rooms before putting on my white robe and enjoying a glass of champagne in the relaxation area, which was furnished with candles and a fragrant scent.

The Divi Phoenix Aruba Spa only uses natural and organic products such as Eminence Organic Skincare, Pure Fiji, Farm House Fresh Goods, and products from the Pure Indulgence Luxe Spa Line (which you can buy in the spa). I was pampered, exfoliated and treated to a head massage before being wrapped in warm towels to allow the treatment to hydrate my skin.

Then I was led up to the second floor to the loft area for my pedicure, beginning with a foot spa whilst relaxing in a massaging chair where I had complete control of the rolling or kneading as I gazed out at the picturesque vista of the resort and sweeping ocean views.

After a glass of mimosa and feeling incredibly calm, I floated out of the spa with my skin looking and feeling great. It even enhanced my beach tan. I definitely recommend a spa treatment at Pure Indulgence Spa, and you can find details of the treatments and prices on the Pure Spa Aruba website.

Why I Love This Divi Resort

  • There are no single room supplements for solo females in this Divi Resort, which is a huge bonus, and if a friend decides to join you at the last moment, there is a sofa bed for extra guests.
  • Both the island and the resort are ageless and are great for international solo females of any age, whether you are in your twenties or seventies.
  • There is amazing customer service here, and being here alone and having friendly staff really makes the difference, especially when you are dining alone. The waitresses introduced themselves to me by name and really looked after me.
  • It feels like a home away from home and has everything I need to stay for a week, a month or even move in! Plus, they offer vacation memberships so that you can stay for as long as you want. * Check rates & availability for Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort

Cons – It’s just so romantic that you should definitely bring a partner the second time around.

Location and Security

Can you get a more perfect location than on the beach? That’s why this Divi Resort Aruba is my favourite because of its location on Palm Beach, a long stretch of sand where you’ll find all the water sports and great sunbathing spots.

The resort is really safe with on-site security, but the whole of Aruba is incredibly safe for women who are travelling alone.

The island is considered one of the safest islands in the Caribbean both during the day and at night. The beach promenade along Palm Beach is just perfect to walk along after dusk, and you can even pop into one of the hotel bars to enjoy a drink with a friendly bartender. You’ll feel safe no matter where you are.

Senor Frogs, a great bar to spend the night

What Is There To Do in The Area?

  • More water sports than you’ll have time to fit in.
  • Eat! Aruba is a cuisine-lovers paradise.
  • Shopping in the local malls.
  • Party – just a short walk away are the bars and the nightlife. Don’t let being solo stop you from a night out here, as places such as Gusto and Senor Frogs are fun for anyone.
  • The garden of the Hyatt Regency and Hilton is worth a visit too.
  • Join the other joggers and walkers in the mornings along the beach boardwalk.

Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort

Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort is one of the Divi resorts Aruba. Although I didn’t stay here, I did visit Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort for a day and was surprised at how sustainable this resort is.

Situated across from the beach in the city of Oranjestad, Aruba, the resort has studios and suites with private balconies with views of the pool. The resort is set around a landscaped 9-hole golf course, complete with a lake and cute bridge that you can drive your eco-friendly golf cart over for the last hole.

This 9-hole golf course has real grass, and you’ll find that you may be teeing off with an iguana or pelican watching your move. The course was designed to be self-sustaining and play a role in protecting the environment by being ecologically friendly.

With eco-friendly electric and solar-panelled golf carts, the resort even uses its own recycled water to maintain the grass on the course. And if you’ve never played golf before in your life (which I hadn’t), you can book a group golf lesson for just $15 with Donald Ross to get yourself started. There’s an infinity swimming pool and clubhouse on site along with a swim-up bar, plus an Infinity Grill and Sea Breeze cafe for open-air dining near the onsite pool. * Check rates & availability for Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort

Dining at Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort

I had lunch at Mulligan’s, which overlooks the first and ninth holes and offers casual dining, such as Mediterranean chicken wraps and oven-baked pizzas. The bar has a happy hour from 5 pm to 6 pm where you can sit at the bar and meet some of the other guests.

Dine at Windows on Aruba

Windows on Aruba

Windows on Aruba is simply stunning and has a wow factor. I dined here and arrived for an incredible sunset which shone through the floor to ceiling windows that surround the round-shaped restaurant.

Windows offers a 5-star menu with 5-star treatment to match its cuisine and features local and seasonal ingredients to support the Aruban farmers and fishermen. I chose the crab and salmon cakes (at $18) and the catch of the day (at $38), which was red snapper with sweet black rice and fresh vegetables.

Everything here comes with a twist and even the bread served had a mix of jalapeno. The menu also caters for vegetarians and vegans and has gluten-free options, such as quinoa.

What I like about this restaurant (apart from the views) is the care taken in the food and the presentation. All of the kitchen staff have been here for at least 8 years, and with the open kitchen, you can see them cooking your cuisine. There is a wide range of desserts, such as mango cheesecake, for just $10 and a swanky bar area for after-dinner drinks from around the world.

Every Thursday to Saturday, you’ll be treated to the dulcet tones of live flute or saxophone music, and jazz on the last Sunday of every month. Windows was even voted as the “Best Sunday Brunch on Aruba” and is open with an a la carte menu from 10 am until 2 pm each Sunday. With a gorgeous ambience and romantic setting, you simply have to dine here when in Aruba. * Check rates & availability for Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort

My Divi Aruba Reviews: Conclusion

I hope that my Divi Aruba reviews have inspired you to stay in one of these Aruba resorts. Whatever your interests, whether shopping, dining, water sports or just relaxing, Divi Resorts offers you the freedom to plan your own itinerary. It is as sociable as you need and caters for the adventurous solo and beach solo.

If you’re wondering which Divi Resort in Aruba is the best to stay at, I recommend Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort for those who want to be by a beach and the Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort for those who want to play a few rounds of golf. Plus this all-inclusive resort Aruba also allows you the option of paying full board to have all of your meals included.

Although I stay away from chain hotels and groups such as Marriott and Sandals, Divi Resorts don’t have to be an all-inclusive Aruba holiday, and are a great option for the Caribbean. For Aruba hotels, these are one of the best resorts here. Guests can also travel to these destinations using Points through the Divi Vacation Club, which launched in January 2015.
